Veterans behind two popular franchises have joined to form When Tides Turn and are already at work on developing Wreckreation 2. What will be more fun than high-intensity racing around famous tracks from world wide and the scenic countryside, well, rampant vehicular carnage through the streets- that’s what! When Tides Turn is a brand new studio formed by Fiona Sperry (Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit (2010), Burnout, Burnout 2: Point of Impact, Burnout 3: Takedown, Burnout Revenge), who has pulled together a crew that’s developing and publishing its first game in the shape of an open-world arcade racing sequel. The choice to maneuver forward with this ambitious step got here after a discussion on Discord where praise led to inspiration.
“Just a few months ago, certainly one of our Discord moderators was talking to me about Burnout. He remembered all styles of tiny details, and I laughed and said, “My God, you’ve got a a lot better memory than me.”
He replied:
“Fiona, we haven’t got a greater memory. We’re just still playing them.”
That actually stayed with me.”– FIona Sperry
Fiona goes on to share a passion for arcade racing and the way it’s capable of making “those intense, second-to-second decisions: reading traffic, spotting a shortcut, deciding whether to attack or defend, taking a risk because you think that it’ll repay,” and the way her team is obsessing over. Sperry adds that When Tides Turn shall be providing constant progress reports on Wreckreation 2’s development while also being committed to listening to the community and players for support. Wreckreation 2 has not been given a release date yet, but is already available to wishlist on Steam, and a brand new trailer is already available to view.
Description (via Steam):
“Victory isn’t nearly finding the fastest line. It’s about reading your rivals, selecting the appropriate moment to attack, fighting for each position and taking risks that others won’t.
Slam opponents aside, force mistakes, seize opportunities and deliver the right takedown. Every race unfolds in a different way, creating battles that last from the primary corner to the finish line.“
