The Nashville Predators have overhauled not only their management staff, but their roster too. During the last couple of seasons under former GM Barry Trotz, the Predators spent a whole lot of money on players like Jonathan Marchessault, Steven Stamkos, and Brady Skjei. Nevertheless, Nashville didn’t see any success.
That’s the reason change was needed. It felt like Trotz’s “Big Three” or “Three Aces within the Hole” had been within the rumour mill ever since they got to Nashville. Not to say the Predators’ top center, Ryan O’Reilly, appeared to at all times be mentioned once the trade deadline got here around.

What’s your vibe? And what you’ve been picking up on the market across the grapevine, across the league, concerning the Predators?”
Jim Biringer: “Yeah, well, let’s start off. Let’s backtrack just a little bit. Last time I used to be on the show, we talked about how Nashville was going to have an lively offseason, and so they did. You were bringing Chris MacFarland. He gets a pair of men he knows in Jack Drury and Ross Colton. And the large storyline here throughout Nashville has to get younger, got to get deeper, especially down the center. You usher in a pair centers, and then you definitely go get Mavrik Bourque from Dallas and Ilya Lyubushkin.

Now, word on the road was that that trade was orchestrated because there was a possible offer sheet coming from the Nashville Predators to Mavrik Bourque, in order that form of facilitated that trade. Marchessault has been a reputation that has been on the block dating back to last season. He’s entering 12 months three of a five-year contract at $5.5 million. While he does have a no-movement clause, something feels off, and he has not been in a position to settle into his latest surroundings. With the cap going up, $5.5 million is just not bad for a player who consistently put the puck in the online.
It is going to be interesting to see what MacFarland and the Nashville Predators do with him and others on the roster because the 2026 offseason continues.
