‘Gypsy King’ keeps Joshua superfight alive by KO’ing 46-year-old

Heavyweight legend Tyson Fury had his hand raised in front of a small audience on Friday.

The long-awaited super-fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua has survived one among two hurdles that were standing in front of it.

Each British former heavyweight champions signed up for warm-up fights this month, and it was ‘The Gypsy King’ who entered the ring first for his bout in Thailand on July 24.

The night before ‘AJ’ returns in Saudi Arabia, Fury got the job done against Polish veteran Mariusz Wach, but not many were capable of watch the triumph.

Tyson Fury stops Mariusz Wach in untelevised Thailand match in front of 1,500 fans

Many eyebrows were raised when it was confirmed that ‘The Gypsy King’ would make the second appearance of his comeback from retirement on the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya.

Fury’s fight against Wach, a 46-year-old who entered the fight with 13 losses in 52 boxing matches, didn’t have a television broadcaster and took place in front of just 1,500 fans.

Those in attendance witnessed the expected result. Fury was outweighed by his opponent for the primary time in 15 years, but that made little difference on fight night.

The 37-year-old former champion made Wach quit on the stool at the tip of round seven after appearing to win every round as much as that time. The result kept his planned clash with Joshua at the tip of 2026 alive.

Before his victory on Friday, Fury defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov this past April.

In contrast to the Wach fight, the primary win of the Briton’s return got here in front of 64,500 fans on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London and was watched by thousands and thousands on the Netflix streaming platform.

Before making his latest comeback after a short-lived retirement, Fury lost two fights to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024.

His last win prior to 2026 was a narrow victory over MMA star Francis Ngannou, who gave ‘The Gypsy King’ a scare after knocking him down during their match in Saudi Arabia.
