Jimmy Uso is probably not planning to retire anytime soon, however the longtime WWE star already knows the moment he’ll realize when it’s time to walk away from the ring.
Speaking with Sports Illustrated ahead of his SummerSlam 2026 appearance, the nine-time WWE Tag Team Champion reflected on what continues to fuel his passion for skilled wrestling after spending years at the highest of the industry.
In response to Uso, championships are nice to have, but they aren’t any longer what motivates him each time he steps through the curtain. As an alternative, he pointed to his family as the most important reason he still loves what he does. He said,
“What really keeps me going is… family. After I show as much as work, I’m very spoiled, bro. I’m very blessed. I get to go home to my family, be loved, and I get to leap on the road with my other family and be loved.”
“I still get that very same nervous feeling each time I am going on the market to the ring… I still get that first debut feeling.”
“Soon as that nervous feeling starts to go away or that voice sort of settle down, then I feel that could be that point to sort of step away.”
“A title don’t necessarily must be around my waist for me to feel like I made it already… But when the chance presents itself, please imagine I’ll grab that ball and I’m running with it.”
Big E. has reflected on some of the difficult moments of his WWE profession, revealing that by chance striking AJ Lee during a live episode of WWE RAW still weighs on him greater than the neck injury that sidelined his in-ring profession.
The previous WWE Champion revisited the incident while training alongside CM Punk in a video released by WWE ahead of Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship defense against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2026.
Throughout the workout, the 2 were performing back extensions when Punk jokingly brought up the memorable mishap involving his wife, AJ Lee. CM Punk said,
“Hey, remember while you hit my wife within the chest and shattered her sternum? You do not forget that?”
Big E. added, “I attempt to forget that. Probably the worst, truthfully, worst moment of my profession, even considering breaking the neck.”
Punk continued the ribbing by adding,
“Sent her to the shadow realm.”
Big E. then praised AJ Lee for the way she handled the accidental blow. He said,
“The thing is she ate it prefer it was nothing.”
