Jamie O’Hara has urged Arsenal to think about selling Martin Odegaard in the summertime transfer window after his performance against Atletico Madrid within the Champions League this week.

Odegaard has struggled with injuries this season and has began just 19 games across the Premier League and the Champions League.

The 27-year-old was substituted just before the hour mark within the draw with Atletico Madrid, and there are concerns in Norway that the midfielder continues to be hampered by a knee problem which has forced him to miss a big a part of Arsenal’s campaign.

Nevertheless, O’Hara has questioned whether Odegaard can remain Arsenal’s captain and believes Mikel Arteta might have to sign a brand new creative midfielder in the summertime transfer window.

‘Last season he wasn’t great either,’ O’Hara told talkSPORT.

‘He’s been terrible this season, getting dragged within the Champions League semi-final once you’re the captain isn’t an excellent look.

‘I do imagine that Arsenal perhaps are growing away from Odegaard. Possibly they’ve got to have a look at a player who can are available in and be that talisman.

‘When Eze got here on tonight, he kept getting caught in possession. He’s done a pair of excellent things, but is he the world star within the number 10 role for Arsenal? I’m unsure.

‘But Odegaard must up his game. He must buck his ideas up because he’ll find yourself falling down a pecking order. I don’t think he could be the captain anymore.’

Meanwhile, Jason Cundy believes Declan Rice will turn out to be Arsenal’s next captain if Odegaard leave the club.

‘He’s never going to catch the attention by way of doing step-overs and pinging one in top bins, running 30 yards. He ain’t that player. What he’s, defensively, he’s a monster,’ Cundy said.

‘When he goes forward, he carries the team. He’s sensible on top of things. I believe he shall be England’s next captain and I believe it’ll be Arsenal’s next captain.’
