The 49ers will hold their first training camp practice on Sunday, but head coach Kyle Shanahan is not going to be running things. The team announced Shanahan is recovering from “non-life-threatening injuries” he suffered in a automotive crash last week. Assistant head coach and offensive line coach Chris Foerster and team coordinators will handle HC responsibilities until Shanahan is able to return to his full-time post.
“Coach Shanahan will take part in team activities on a limited basis firstly of coaching camp while he recovers,” the 49ers stated.
Shanahan suffered a concussion, broken ribs, a broken nose and a broken hand, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
