Darby Allin has officially reached the mountaintop in AEW.
This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite opened with a shocking development for MJF, as he was informed that he would defend the AEW World Championship against Allin that very same night. “The Salt of the Earth” managed to speak his way out of competing within the opener, successfully pushing the match to the principal event as a substitute.
Ahead of the bout, Allin received a surprise visit and motivational pep talk from Sting, setting the tone for the largest match of his profession. When the 2 finally met within the principal event, MJF immediately resorted to his usual tactics, hitting a low blow while referee Aubrey Edwards was distracted.
With the gang behind Darby Allin, he unleashed an assault, hitting 4 Coffin Drops in succession. He then sealed the victory, pinning MJF with a headlock takeover to capture the AEW World Championship.
The show closed with a celebratory scene, as Sting and several other members of the AEW roster joined Allin within the ring to mark his crowning moment.
