Dave Hogg: Detroit Red Wings pending UFA forward Patrick Kane said there may be a mutual interest between the 2 sides to work out an extension.

“I believe there may be mutual interest for me to come back back and proceed my profession here. It’s been an important spot for me, my family and my son, and I’ve definitely enjoyed my time here. But there’s no rush — I’ll talk things over with my agent and my family, and we’ll see how every little thing plays out.

“I’d like to be a part of the answer that gets this team over the hump. Now we have a great team here, and we will win. I believe this team is best than some teams which might be within the playoffs.”

The 37-year-old put up 16 goals and 41 assists in 67 games.
