Manchester City are weighing up a summer move for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez, in response to reports.
City want to fill the void left by Bernardo Silva, with the Portuguese international set to depart at the tip of the season.
And the long-term way forward for Spanish midfielder Rodri has also come into query, with the Ballon d’Or winner indicating in March that he would welcome a return to Spain in the long run.
Pep Guardiola’s side have had a long-standing interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, who can also be wanted by Manchester United.
But The Athletic reports that City are also considering a move for Fernandez, who joined Chelsea from Benfica for a then-British-record fee of £105million in 2023.
In recent months, Fernandez has forged doubts over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge, telling Argentine media in March that he ‘didn’t know’ where his future lies beyond this summer’s World Cup.
The 25-year-old has also been linked with Real Madrid, and was suspended for 2 games by former boss Liam Rosenior after comments insinuating he would really like to live within the Spanish capital.

And speaking last month, Fernandez’s agent, Javier Pastore, confirmed that the midfielder will consider his future at Chelsea if terms on a brand new contract can’t be agreed after the World Cup.
‘We decided to place that [contract talks] out of our minds and focus 100 per cent on the crucial fixtures with Chelsea and in addition the World Cup with Argentina, which is able to demand an amazing amount of concentration,’ he told The Athletic.
‘We don’t wish to get into discussions about figures, contracts and negotiations when the timing wasn’t right.
‘Our plan after the World Cup is to satisfy with Chelsea again and, if there is no such thing as a agreement, to explore other options.’
Fernandez made his return from his ban last weekend in a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, and played again in midweek as Chelsea lost 3-0 to Brighton in what proved to be Rosenior’s last game accountable for the Blues.
The Argentine has made 32 Premier League appearances this season, scoring eight goals and registering three assists.
