[WATCH]- Virat Kohli Protests Controversial Catch by Jason Holder to Dismiss Rajat Patidar

Virat Kohli was seen in an animated discussion with the fourth umpire because the Royal Challengers Bengaluru camp showed clear displeasure over skipper Rajat Patidar’s controversial dismissal. The incident occurred within the eighth over of their IPL 2026 clash against the Gujarat Titans on the Narendra Modi Stadium on Thursday.

Patidar miscued a pull shot off a brief delivery from Arshad Khan, leading to a top edge that went high within the air. Jason Holder and Kagiso Rabada each moved in to take the catch, with Holder eventually completing a diving effort.

Nevertheless, replays suggested the ball could have touched the bottom as Holder slid, raising doubts in regards to the legality of the catch. Despite this, the umpires ruled it out, prompting Kohli to have interaction in a heated exchange with the fourth umpire near the boundary.

RCB head coach Andy Flower also questioned the choice, however the on-field call stood. Watch the video here:

Rajat Patidar made 19 runs, hitting one six and two fours before getting out. Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru experienced a batting collapse after being asked to bat first in Ahmedabad.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru had a poor start with the bat as Mohammed Siraj dismissed opener Jacob Bethell for five (5) within the third over. Virat Kohli then played a brisk knock of 28 off 13 balls before being removed by Kagiso Rabada in the next over.

The innings did not get better despite a significant 40 off 24 balls from Devdutt Padikkal. After the collapse, the team introduced Venkatesh Iyer because the Impact Player, but he could only manage 12 runs from 15 deliveries.

RCB were eventually bowled out for 155 in 19.2 overs. Arshad Khan claimed three wickets, while Rashid Khan and Jason Holder picked up two wickets each.
