On Saturday, The Recent Day’s Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods officially parted ways with WWE, with the split described as a mutual decision between each side.
Kingston had been with WWE since 2006, while Woods joined the corporate in 2010. The duo later formed The Recent Day in 2014 alongside Big E, becoming probably the most decorated and popular factions in modern wrestling. Taking to Twitter on Monday, Kingston wrote,
“It’s taken me two full days to answer all my texts. I hadn’t been on social media until today and I’m overwhelmed by all of the messages here too. A lot love.
“So I can’t help but to be filled completely with gratitude…
“My story has been nothing in need of remarkable and I’m truly blessed to have had such an illustrious, accolade-laden and, most significantly, fun-filled profession. I made my childhood dream change into essentially the most wonderful reality.
“Throughout this journey, I’m so thankful to have been surrounded by great friends and to have built so many unbreakable connections with those who I’m very proud to call my family.
“Most individuals undergo life without ever experiencing a love like I actually have for Woods and E. That bond alone would have made this whole experience value it.
“There are far too many individuals to say by name here, but to everyone who has ever supported me, guided me, helped me, taught me, cheered for me, praised me, stood up for me, and even rooted against me: Thanks. I appreciate you greater than words can say.
“My predominant mission has at all times been a straightforward one: To supply a snug life stuffed with heartwarming memories for my family. And, largely partially to all of you, I can proudly say that I actually have achieved that goal and more.
“This wasn’t purported to be a novel, so let me wind it down with some advice:
“Do your best to live a life without regrets, control what you may control, at all times give it your all, and fight hard for what you suspect in.
“Don’t ever compromise or accept lower than your due relating to your value.
“Find the courage to consider in yourself and fearlessly pursue your goals and dreams, because anything is feasible.
“The child that was too small, short, skinny, and scrawny was never purported to make it on this land of giants…yet here we’re.
“And so…
“…because the sun sets on one chapter, so too must it rise in one other. Tomorrow is indeed…a Recent Day.”
