Frank Warren defended Daniel Dubois ahead of his fight with Fabio Wardley, pushing back on criticism over his behavior during fight week. Warren said Dubois prefers to remain quiet and let his performances within the ring speak for him.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s Manchester showdown with Fabio Wardley, Warren highlighted Dubois’s preference for privacy even after his career-best victory over Anthony Joshua.

“Everybody who fights Daniel tries to get under his skin,” said Warren to Secondsout about Dubois. “Fabio’s doing the identical thing. It’s not Daniel’s style to do this. He’s more of an introvert. Fabio’s very articulate, thoroughly spoken, whereas Daniel is articulate, but he doesn’t really need to be doing it.

“I take a look at 93,000 people at Wembley when he done an absolute job on AJ. Had him on the ground 5 or 6 times before he knocked him out. Then within the dressing room, he desired to go home. I had to tug him to the press conference after us, and he’s coming off that magnificent victory.”

Warren said an excessive amount of attention is being placed on Dubois’s personality moderately than his performances contained in the ring. Wardley has repeatedly questioned Dubois’s behavior throughout fight week in Manchester.

Dubois’s perceived “awkwardness” has change into a central theme of fight week. Dubois drew attention this week after several uncomfortable interviews and tense moments through the Manchester media tour ahead of Saturday’s fight with Wardley.

The previous IBF heavyweight champion, Dubois, stopped Anthony Joshua in five rounds at Wembley Stadium last yr and now challenges Wardley for the WBO heavyweight title in Manchester.

Wardley was elevated from interim to full WBO heavyweight champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the title in November 2025.
