Ian Wright says Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will go down because the ‘best team’ within the club’s history in the event that they win a Premier League and Champions League double.
The Gunners moved one other step closer to their first league title since 2004 with a dramatic 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.
Arteta’s side looked set to drop vital points within the title race before Leandro Trossard broke the deadlock on the London Stadium with an 83rd-minute goal.
West Ham must have taken the lead shortly before Arsenal’s opener but David Raya made an excellent save to disclaim Mateus Fernandes from close-range.
The Hammers, battling Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham to avoid the ultimate relegation spot, did have the ball behind the online in injury-time as Callum Wilson smashed home from a corner.
However the equaliser was ruled out following a lengthy VAR check as West Ham were adjudged to have impeded Raya as he tried to assert the corner kick.
An important win in east London leaves Arsenal five points clear of Manchester City with two fixtures to play, though Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.

A primary Premier League title in 22 years is well inside Arsenal’s reach and after that they may attempt to win their first ever Champions League, taking over holders PSG in the ultimate.
Wright believes winning each trophies would make Arteta’s side the best in Arsenal history and surpass the achievements of Arsene Wenger’s Invincibles.
Asked whether a Premier League and Champions League double would put this Arsenal team above the long-lasting Invincibles, Wright said on Sky Sports: ‘I feel so.

‘I’d put them above the Invicibles easy because this team has got the capability of being invincible within the Champions League and to win the Premier League as well…
‘As great as that Invincible team was and the individuals that they had, this team will surpass them with what they’ve done because they may have done something that not even that great team did.
‘They are going to have to get a variety of credit for that for what they’ve been through and the journey under this manager.
‘They’re obviously playing a very good PSG side and it can be a battle of styles but they’ve themselves there they usually should be there.
‘They’ve built this squad and got the players on the bench to assist finish games. They’ve done all of it up until this point.
‘In the event that they can finish it off, which I’m praying they’ll, after all they should go down as Arsenal’s best team in history.’
