Tilak Varma delivered a memorable performance in Dharamsala, guiding his team to victory almost single-handedly in a difficult run chase. The left-hander remained unbeaten on 75 off just 33 deliveries to seal the win for his side.

Nonetheless, it was his celebration after hitting the winning runs that grabbed everyone’s attention. Tilak leapt in joy before flashing the numbers 4 and 5 along with his fingers, a gesture linked to Rohit Sharma’s jersey number.

The celebration seemed to be a tribute to Rohit, and the video of the moment has since gone viral across social media. Watch the video here:

Tilak Varma was also named Player of the Match for his outstanding innings.

“I at all times say that I like ending games, but playing within the World Cup and playing quite a number of international games for the country helps me (understand) how you can finish games, and also you get that have and confidence. So with that, I believe I keep improving my game,” Varma said on the post-match presentation. 

“To be honest, once we had the second strategy timeout, I used to be talking to the coach that only one big over and we’ll finish off the sport. Just keep believing in me, I’ll do it for the team. In order that’s what I said, and I used to be just waiting for that one big over. Unfortunately, it got here off Yuzi bhai’s (last) over (smiles),” he added.

Mumbai Indians have endured a difficult IPL 2026 campaign and are already out of the playoff race. The five-time champions struggled to keep up consistency throughout the season, with each their batting and bowling units failing to click together usually.
