Matt Ryan, the voice behind Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, has returned to lend his talents to the Resycned edition together with other ambitions. Ubisoft finally officially announced Assassin’s Creed Black Resynced after years of leaks and rumors suggesting the project was in development, but additionally surprised the gaming community by revealing that there can be recent missions added to the classic game.
Because it seems, Matt Ryan, who also portrayed John Constantine in NBC’s live-action series, was asked to return and record recent voice-overs for the added content, and VGC was able to examine in with the actor. Featuring motion, romance, exotic locations, and, after all, pirates, a game like that is ripe for a movie adaptation, and the actor was posed the query of portraying the character in a live-action project, to which he said he’d like to.

“That may must fit the medium, whichever medium that was in, whatever is best for the story. Yeah, man, I’d like to do a live-action version of playing Kenway. But all those things are out of your hands as an actor, so that you form of give it over to the gods, see what happens.”

As stated, “all those things are out of your hands,” and fans of any popular IP from a selected medium have witnessed Hollywood’s cardinal rule of avoiding using anyone or anything directly tied to what made said IP successful in the primary place. While there are some exceptions, there are various a flop where fans were left asking why they didn’t use the unique actor/actress for the lead role, or kept to the predominant story specifics versus a director’s or studio’s “interpretation”. Meanwhile, the actor has voiced his opinion in adding that “One thing I really like concerning the narrative of the character is he starts off as a pirate, and he starts as a rogue and a peasant and a scoundrel and someone who’s trying to higher his life, but he does have that good heart in him.”
As mentioned, those in charge in Hollywood normally abhor the thought of employing anyone directly tied to an original IP, so it’s highly unlikely that if an AC Black Flag movie were ever made, they’d remotely consider taking Matt up on his offer, but it surely can be nice if it did occur. Meanwhile, fans will get their likelihood to see the return of Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced when it arrives on PCs and consoles on July 9.
