Major update on Conor McGregor’s contract status

After several years of delay and life away from MMA, former champion and UFC star Conor McGregor is all set to return to motion. Following a suspension and recovery from a broken foot injury, McGregor is scheduled to fight Max Holloway on the upcoming UFC 329 on Jul. 11, 2026, at T-Mobile Arena.

Nonetheless, together with his comeback fight moving closer, fans were recently anxious about his contract status. During an appearance on Mac Energy, McGregor opened up about his current take care of UFC. “It’s like a musical – music to my ears, it’s. I’m out so long live five years,” McGregor said. “My body’s fresh. My mind is sharp. I’m ready to come back back. I’ve got an important opponent. I’ve got an important deal off the UFC. I’m very, very glad. They honored me finally.” Despite addressing his comeback, McGregor didn’t go into details about his contract.

Although combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani explained to The Latest York Post that McGregor finalizing a deal with the UFC will not be as easy because it sounds. “This can be a massive, massive deal for the UFC and for Paramount+ to get him back in the combination,” Helwani said. “Here’s the massive story. That is the massive business story. Conor comes back. They [the UFC] didn’t sign him to an extension. They desired to, he didn’t need to.”

McGregor reportedly has two fights left on his contract, and Helwani believes his upcoming Holloway fight can be the primary one among them. With the streaming world, with Netflix, with Amazon, all these people paying big top dollar for sport, could you imagine a Conor McGregor fight on the open market? What do you think that Netflix would pay for that? They’d pay quite a lot of money,” Helwani said. (via Sports Illustrated)

Previously, Jake Paul’s MVP [Most Valuable Promotions] had also expressed its interest in signing a brand new take care of McGregor after his UFC stint.
