The Montreal Canadiens are on the verge of elimination within the Stanley Cup Playoffs. It was one other dreadful offensive performance because the Carolina Hurricanes took a 4-0 win over the Canadiens in Game 4 within the Eastern Conference Finals. The Canadiens lost their fourth straight home game within the playoffs, the longest such playoff streak in franchise history.
Through the game, fans of the house team began getting frustrated with the shortage of shot production, resulting in a chant echoing in the world in the course of the third period.
Habs fans at the moment are chanting “SHOOT THE PUCK” at their team because the Canadiens are still trying to find their FIRST shot of the third period over 12 mins in 😭😬 pic.twitter.com/L0RK3jy0FG

The fans will be heard chanting “shoot the puck, because the Canadiens were on the lookout for their first shot of the third period, over 12 minutes into the frame. After the sport, Lane Hutson addressed the mantra, based on Marco D’Amico of RG Media.
“We understand their frustration, we’re just as annoyed. We would like to be higher. We got to dig and find the answers,” Hutson said.
Beyond losing a fourth straight home game, it was one other deplorable offensive showing. The Canadien set a Stanley Cup Playoffs record for the fewest shots in a three-game span of a single playoff series, based on Sportsnet Stats. The Habs have just 43 shots within the last three games. Meanwhile, the Hurricanes had 43 shots in only Game 4 alone. The Canes have also blocked 51 shots within the last three games.
Montreal had 22 shots on net in Game 1, scoring six times. Still, that provides them just 65 shots in the primary 4 games of the series, the second fewest in the primary 4 games of a best-of-seven series. Still, there may be hope for the Canadiens. The fewest shots in the primary 4 games are 61, owned by the San Jose Sharks within the 1994 Western Conference Semifinals. They’d force a game seven against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Meanwhile, the 1998 Washington Capitals and 2024 Vancouver Canucks are third and fourth, respectively. They’d each go on to win their series despite the low shot total.
The Canadiens now look to dam out the “outside noise,” as they try to force a Game 6 on Friday in Carolina.
