Just hours after the Oklahoma City Thunder finished their WCF against the San Antonio Spurs in a defeat, podcaster Bill Simmons opened up and brutally compared 24-year-old Chet Holmgren’s disaster to Ronda Rousey’s UFC profession.
Thunder fell to the visiting Spurs in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals, surrendering a 111-103 final rating at Paycom Center. While Shai Gilgeous-Alexander delivered his most impressive performance of the series, scoring a game-high 35 points, the Thunder’s Chet Holmgren had a negligible impact on the decisive final game. The forward finished the sport with 4 points and 4 rebounds, taking just two shot attempts through his 33 minutes of motion.
Shortly after the sport, Simmons compared his performance to Rousey’s final UFC days. “It’s almost like a boxing thing or like, what happened with Ronda Rousey. When she was just beating everybody, making everyone submit. After which, swiftly, she fought Holly Holm, got knocked out, and like, lost her Mojo. And type of, never got it back,” Simmons said. “She ended up losing again.”
Nonetheless, Zach Lowe backed Holmgren and commented that he was rooting for his “comeback for vengeance.” He further stated that while Rousey was broken after her loss to Holm, she got here back and fought Amanda Nunes. “Let’s dig out of it. Come back. Everyone needs to be f***ing pissed off. No, we usually are not able to pass the torch. We’re going to go at that guy. We wish to do it together. I’m going to learn from this experience; this was my low point. Like, I’m coming back next 12 months.”
Despite having run. Holmgren fumbled up and ended up having a disastrous match, much like what Rousey did against Holm. Nonetheless, Lowe hopes Holmgren can learn from his mistakes and are available back stronger.
