WWE could have hinted at a future clash between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes when the 2 champions got here face-to-face backstage at Clash in Italy, but a brand new report indicates that fans shouldn’t expect that match to occur anytime soon.
The temporary interaction quickly became a serious talking point given the history between the World Heavyweight Champion and the Undisputed WWE Champion. Each men were coming off successful title defenses in Turin on May 31, leading many fans to imagine that WWE was laying the groundwork for an additional high-profile showdown.
In response to a report from WrestleVotes, WWE currently has no plans to book Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes through the summer months.
The report comes despite the strain that emerged following Clash in Italy. After retaining his championship, Reigns took a shot at Rhodes, declaring,
“QB1? F**K all that noise, it’s The Tribal Chief’s game.”
Rhodes responded through the post-show media session and made it clear that he would welcome one other encounter with Reigns, stating that if The Tribal Chief wanted one other opportunity, he would gladly “add him to the list.”
Although the exchange fueled speculation a few future title match, WWE appears to have different plans for each champions in the intervening time.
Reigns has remained heavily involved within the Bloodline storyline on RAW after defeating Jacob Fatu at Backlash 2026 and nevertheless in a Tribal Combat Match at Clash in Italy.
