Veteran commentator Aakash Chopra has said that Virat Kohli has taught everyone learn how to live up to large expectations. He also added that Kohli has carried an enormous burden on his shoulders for a few years without anyone realising it as well. Kohli has smashed 14,797 runs at a mean of 58.71 in 299 ODI innings. He also amassed 9,230 runs which got here at a mean of 46.85 in 123 Tests and 4,188 runs at a mean of 48.69 in 117 T20I innings as well.
In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “Simply because I carried it well doesn’t mean that it was not heavy. Who gives this life lesson? I’m going to go along with Virat Kohli here. The talk is about expectations and pressure. The talk is about your individual standards. Virat Kohli wears it so well that you simply don’t understand it. The special thing about him is that there isn’t a change in his playing style. He has mastered this art.”
“Some individuals are barely cut above the remainder. Irrespective of how much pressure you place on them, their response, behaviour, body language, and persona don’t change. You don’t even realize that he has been carrying a really heavy burden on his shoulders for a few years,” he further shared.
Nonetheless, Aakash Chopra also added that young Vaibhav Suryavanshi and veteran batter Virender Sehwag have given everyone the life lesson that one doesn’t must follow the norm to achieve success as well.
“Don’t follow the norm. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Virender Sehwag have given us that lesson. The way in which Virender Sehwag was playing Test cricket 20 years ago, everyone said that it was flawed. He said he would do it and do it thoroughly. He said he would change the way in which Test cricket is played. It is going to be remembered that he was a trend-setter,” he said.
“Vaibhav Suryavanshi is doing the identical thing now. He has seen his seniors playing otherwise, but he decided he won’t do like that, and can only hit sixes. What Viru did within the early 2000s, he’s doing the identical thing in 2026. So you may carve your individual area of interest,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
