Police Reviewing Assault Allegation Against Jets QB Geno Smith

Police were called to Jets quarterback Geno Smith‘s home in Davie., Fla., on Sunday over an alleged battery, Edward Lewis of the California Post reports.

In a video posted on Instagram, a girl named “Kristen” alleged that Smith “beat my [expletive].” She also accused Smith of running outside and attacking her, breaking her computer and stealing money from her automobile. The footage of her video includes Smith arguing along with her and telling someone on the phone, “She just called the police.”

The tip of the 85-second clip shows Smith speaking with three law enforcement officials, though nobody was taken into custody. That was the one time police were called to Smith’s home on Sunday, based on TMZ Sports.

“It shouldn’t be an energetic case, but continues to be being reviewed before (a report) will be released,” a Davie Police Department spokesperson said (via Wealthy Cimini of ESPN). 

Neither Smith nor the Jets have commented on the matter. Unless the NFL finds enough evidence to discipline Smith under its personal conduct policy, he is ready to open the season because the Jets’ starting quarterback. It’s the second Jets stint for Smith, who began his profession with the team as a second-round pick in 2013.

After spending his first 4 years with the Jets, Smith had runs with the Giants, Chargers, Seahawks and Raiders from 2017-25. The Jets reunited with the 35-year-old in a trade with the Raiders in March. He’s atop a depth chart that also includes Brady Cook, Bailey Zappe and fourth-round rookie Cade Klubnik.
