Morgan Rielly gives Maple Leafs 4 WC teams in trade request

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly could possibly be on the move soon.

Rielly, who has never played for an additional NHL team outside the Maple Leafs since debuting within the league within the 2013-14 season, is alleged to have submitted a listing containing 4 teams he’s willing to be traded to.

“Morgan Rielly’s agent J.P Barry has submitted a listing of 4 Western based teams Rielly is willing to go to,” Darren Dreger of TSN shared via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.

“This will probably be a team by team assessment and depending on the fit, there could possibly be some flexibility so as to add teams to the list.”

The 32-year-old Rielly continues to be under contract that may carry him through the 2029-30 season and has a median annual value of $7.5 million.

Perhaps two of those teams were those mentioned by Dreger’s TSN colleague, Pierre LeBrun, on Tuesday.

“Morgan Rielly, as Jonas Siegel reported last week, is open to a move. My sense is that teams like San Jose and Anaheim could be high on his list,” LeBrun said. “Actually, I do know for a fact, he sent a Western Conference heavy list, suggested list to the Leafs, Morgan Rielly did, so we’ll see what the Leafs will do with that,” LeBrun said (h/t Tyler Kuehl of Every day Faceoff).

A Rielly trade will probably be one other big change in Toronto, which has already traded goaltender Joseph Wall to the Philadelphia Flyers and hired a brand new Maple Leafs head coach in Jim Hiller.

In 951 games played with the Maple Leafs, Rielly has collected 98 goals and 451 assists for a complete of 549 points.
