Floyd Schofield is questioning Gervonta Davis’ interest in a fight with Devin Haney after the deadline for his or her WBA-ordered negotiations passed with out a deal being announced.
“I used to be trying to offer him the advantage of the doubt, but my dad is saying that’s a transparent duck,” said Floyd Schofield Jr. to MillCity Boxing. “Now, swiftly on the identical way that we were speculated to come to an agreement for a handbag bid, now you wish to fight Devin Haney.
“You can have fought Devin last 12 months. You can have fought Devin once you was lining up that fight with Jake Paul. Now, swiftly, you wish to fight Devin. I don’t wish to say what it’s.”
Schofield’s father agreed along with his son’s view of the situation.
“That man doesn’t wish to fight you. It’s okay to say, ‘I don’t wish to fight,’” said Schofield Sr.
Schofield Jr. stopped wanting directly accusing Davis of avoiding him, but said the timing of the recent Haney talk raised questions.
“I’m not going to say what I need to say, but it surely’s just a little weird. There’s something shaky in there. I ain’t going to lie,” said Schofield Jr. about Davis being linked to a Haney fight. “That’s some bitch stuff.”
The WBA ordered Davis to defend his lightweight title against Schofield in May and gave either side until June 22 to barter a deal. As of June 24, no fight had been officially announced.
Davis has recently been linked to a possible fight against Haney, while Schofield stays the WBA’s mandatory challenger at 135 kilos with a 19-0 record and 13 knockouts.
If the title changes hands outside the ring, Schofield says he’s greater than willing to simply accept it.
“Hey, I’ll take the belt [WBA lightweight title]. Thanks,” said Schofield Jr.
