Backstage Update On Planned Creative Hierarchy In TNA As Road Dogg Joins Team

There was loads of chopping and changing behind the scenes in TNA Wrestling as of late, with Tommy Dreamer leaving his position because the Head of Creative. Dreamer had been on the creative team for seven years, so finding an acceptable alternative wasn’t going to be easy, but the corporate looks to have found its man in the shape of WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg. Nevertheless, Road Dogg, real name Brian James who wrestled as B.G. James during his in-ring profession in TNA, won’t be the pinnacle honcho in terms of the creative direction of the corporate.

In response to Dave Meltzer in the newest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, James will begin his work with TNA on the upcoming TNA Slammiversary 2026 pay-per-view on June 28. There was no official announcement made by James or TNA on the time of writing, though it’s unclear whether there shall be an announcement or whether it is going to be much quieter backstage transition. James shall be a part of the creative team in TNA, but it is going to be Hunter Johnson, who is best known by his in-ring name of Delirious, who will function head booker. James will as an alternative work alongside the Vice-President of TV Production, Eric Tompkins, as a creative mind to assist Johnson put together the finished product.

While James does have a history with TNA, it was actually former TNA/Impact Wrestling World Champion, Sami Callihan, who many (including Callihan himself) thought can be filling Dreamer’s shoes. As a substitute, when Callihan had a gathering with TNA executives which he believed would end in him being given a creative role in the corporate, he was told that he was being let go as an alternative, bringing his near nine-year stint with the corporate to an abrupt end, minutes after assuming he can be given the possibility to take TNA right into a recent direction.
