Jim Ross Comments On Ex-WWE Star Sheamus Possibly Coming To AEW, Re-Forming Tag Team

Last week, Sheamus officially left WWE after selecting to not renew his contract with the corporate, making him a free agent for the primary time in 19 years. Since his departure, many have questioned where Sheamus will wrestle next, but in response to WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross during an episode of “Grilling JR,” AEW needs to be desirous about signing “The Celtic Warrior” so he can reunite along with his former tag team partner.

“Well, I feel putting him back along with Cesaro is a very good thing if that happens. It’ll create an actual strong team to make your tag team division stronger. But he’s a very good hand … and the mix of he and Cesaro interests me a great deal. So we’ll need to wait and see,” Ross explained. “I hope that he lands on his feet wherever he goes, but I’d prefer to personally because I could have the opportunity to call a few of his matches again someday. I hope that he signs with AEW and on some kind of contract. Even when it is a limited engagement contract where he isn’t working each time the lights come on, he’s there. I’m not for anybody having to do this … he’s got lots of gas left within the tank.”

It was also reported last week that a “high level” WWE official tried to persuade TKO to maintain Sheamus, having presented the worth that he brings to the promotion each out and in of the ring. Together with Ross, many others throughout the wrestling industry view AEW as one of the best destination for Sheamus, with Eric Bischoff and Matt Hardy believing the promotion would profit from having him on the roster.
