The Buffalo Sabres broke a 14-year playoff drought this past season. While the team was capable of make the playoffs, the Sabres had a tumultuous offseason, losing multiple key players.
While the Sabres’ offseason didn’t go as planned, they just made a significant move within the front office, in keeping with a release from the team.
The Sabres have hired John Davison as a senior advisor, the team announced on Monday. He is available in with 20 years of NHL front office experience, while also spending 18 seasons as a president of hockey operations. He has made stops with the St. Louis Blues, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Latest York Rangers. In his time with the Blues and Blue Jackets, he worked with Sabres GM Jarmo Kekäläinen.
“I’m thrilled to welcome John Davidson to the Sabres as a senior advisor,” Kekäläinen said. “John and I actually have a robust working relationship that we have now developed over a few years. His experience leading multiple organizations, combined along with his player evaluation skills and relationships across the NHL make him a fantastic fit for this role. He’ll lend his expertise and guidance to all areas inside the hockey department as we aim to proceed to enhance our club.”
Davidson has a track record of turning around teams. He turned the Blues from a bottom fo the barrel team i nthe Western Conference to a Stanley Cup contender. He was also answerable for the Blue Jackets of their most successful stretch in franchise history.

While Davidson has done a fantastic job at turning teams into contenders, he has yet to win a Stanley Cup and hopes to assist the Sabres not only win his first Cup but additionally help the Sabres lift the Cup for the primary time in franchise history.
