England secured a hard-fought 27-run victory over India within the high-scoring third and final One Day International at Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. With this result, the host team clinched the three-match series by a 2-1 margin.
After winning the toss, England opted to bat first on a favourable pitch and set a commanding total that ultimately proved just beyond the reach of the visiting Indian side. Batting first, England produced an excellent offensive display to achieve a formidable total of 387 runs for the lack of three wickets of their allotted 50 overs.
Opener Ben Duckett led the attack with a powerful knock of 141 runs off 135 balls, including 18 boundary fours and one six. He received excellent support from his opening partner Jacob Bethell, who scored a fluent 91 runs off 93 balls during a dominant 192-run opening partnership.
Within the closing overs, Joe Root added a swift 74 runs not out off 48 balls, while captain Jos Buttler provided an explosive finish with an unbeaten 41 runs off just 13 deliveries. For India, pace bowler Prasidh Krishna was the first wicket-taker, taking two wickets for 69 runs in his ten overs.
