A Kirill Marchenko trade could occur soon, and Connor Bedard was never thinking about a proposal sheet

Could Kirill Marchenko be traded soon?

Daria Tuboltseva of RG.org: A source who’s near Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kirill Marchenko, said that Marchenko expects to be traded within the near future. Trade talks are ongoing and Blue Jackets are working on finalizing a deal.

“Kirill is actually between two teams immediately,” a source near the player told RG.org. “The parties at the moment are negotiating the terms of the trade.”

The Blue Jackets haven’t been actively shopping Marchenko, but have said they might listen. The Montreal Canadiens have shown interest in Marchenko earlier this offseason and will still be in the combination. Marco D’Amico has been saying that the Canadiens have been in search of a top-six forward and that Marchenko is considered one of the higher options that is out there. Marchenko’s within the last yr of his contract, so there would likely be some contract talks between his camp and the acquiring team.

The Montreal Canadiens can only really offer up futures

Dan Milstein: “Can’t confirm or deny, but last I checked there have been some pretty steep tariffs on exporting elite talent to or from Canada immediately… ”

“Yeah, not, in no way to be honest with you. You understand, for me, I let sort of allow them to know from the beginning and offer sheet wasn’t something I used to be ever gonna do. I feel, not, not that there’s anything flawed with that. I’m, you understand, extremely completely satisfied for Leo, and you understand he’s an incredible player, and that’s he’s gonna be value greater than that.

You understand. But only for me, the, you understand, the danger of, you understand, not being a Blackhawk wasn’t, you understand, value any amount of cash. So you understand they knew that, and and we I didn’t want to alter simply because, because that, that happened.

Top players could start seeking to shorter-term deals to maximise their value

Obviously, it’s a, it’s a special scenario with the offer sheet. And you understand we, we had good, good conversations the entire time throughout, so we were completely satisfied, completely satisfied where we landed, and I feel each side be ok with it.”
