Ian Machado Garry must be banned from talking about non-fighting topics, suggests ex-UFC star

The following UFC welterweight title challenger has turn out to be a polarizing figure.

Ian Machado Garry has earned his first shot at gold on mixed martial arts’ biggest stage, having defeated each Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad in 2025.

He’ll ride that winning streak into the UFC 330 fundamental event in Philadelphia, where Garry is ready to challenge Islam Makhachev within the Dagestani’s first defense at 170 kilos.

The Irishman has been ramping up his media appearances ahead of the August numbered event. As has been the case up to now, Garry’s words have riled up some fans and fighters.

Brendan Schaub is just not having fun with Ian Machado Garry’s pre-UFC 330 media run

Garry’s personality has been an enormous talking point lately, a discussion accentuated by some lies spread about his personal life.

The Irish welterweight is no longer wanting haters, they usually were quick to leap on his recent remarks concerning the world being a greater place if it were ruled by women.

Brendan Schaub was the most recent to criticize the comments, and he went so far as to suggest that Garry should “not be allowed” to discuss things unrelated to his fighting profession.

“God rattling he’s bad, and these cuck outlets he’s occurring,” Schaub said in a video posted on his X account.

“Do the UFC fanbase? I’m like, yeah, he’s trolling when he’s like, ‘The world could be so a lot better if the world was run by women.’ I’m sure you and your wife speak about things at night, that doesn’t mean it is best to use it to advertise a cage fight against the pound-for-pound No. 1 guy on the planet.

“He should only be allowed to speak about fighting,” he continued. “ how people tell Lebron James, ‘Shut up and dribble,’ I never agreed with that. I’m like, come on, man. They’re people, too. You bought to allow them to express themselves.

“Until I heard Ian Garry do an interview. (Now) I’m like, ‘Oh, shut up and fight,’ since you’re turning everybody off and no person’s buying this. No person’s buying the schtick. No person.”

The UFC 330 title challenger’s recent run has proved that he won’t let discourse outside of the Octagon distract him and affect his performances contained in the Octagon.

Garry’s victory over Prates has aged particularly well in recent months, and a few are pointing to the Irishman’s strong display against Shavkat Rakhmonov as evidence that he has what it takes to upset Makhachev.
