LeToya Luckett Avoids Destiny’s Child Drama During Livestream
During an Instagram livestream with former manager Terrance Ross, he brought up the problem of radio stations being threatened for enjoying Luckett’s solo music. Ross didn’t name names, but Luckett was a member of Destiny’s Child before she was allegedly fired by Beyoncé’s dad, Mathew Knowles. In keeping with Billboard, Knowles was the group’s manager on the time, and Luckett sued him over wrongful termination.
Ross claimed that radio stations received phone calls saying that in the event that they played ‘Torn,’ they wouldn’t receive records from “this group anymore.”
“I can’t speak on that,” Luckett replied. ‘I’ll allow you to speak on that.”
“When your record went to radio,” Ross recalled. “There was a call put in that in the event you play that record, in the event you play that record, you won’t get no more records from this group.”
“But you understand what? God be the glory,” said Luckett.
“That record fought through that,” he added. “There was a mandate called as much as the radio stations.”
