Nate Diaz accused of lying about turning down more cash to fight Conor McGregor within the UFC

Not everyone seems to be buying Nate Diaz’s claim about how his mixed martial arts return got here together.

The fan favorite is about to make his comeback on May 16, where he might be one in all the highest stars competing at Netflix’s very first MMA event.

Having not fought since his last UFC fight in September 2022, Diaz will fight Mike Perry at Inglewood’s Intuit Dome.

Many were dissatisfied to not see the Stockton star returning to the Octagon, especially after he revealed the door was open to achieve this.

After his bout on the Netflix card was announced, Diaz claimed he turned down the UFC’s offer to stage his return to the game after over three years away.

Based on the previous WEC title challenger, he rejected more cash than he’s getting for the Perry fight to face Conor McGregor for a 3rd time contained in the Octagon. Diaz said he was not keen on fighting the Irish star given his long layoff.

It’s protected to say that former UFC welterweight Matt Brown will not be buying that.

Dana White reacted to Diaz’s claim, disputing it and suggesting he likely received a suggestion too big to refuse from Jake Paul’s Most Helpful Promotions. ‘The Immortal’ is inclined to consider the UFC president over Diaz.

“Money talks,” Brown said on MMA Fighting’s The Fighter vs. The Author. “He’s making more cash with this Netflix fight than he would with the UFC. That’s why he’s not fighting Conor within the UFC.

“I lean towards believing Dana on this. He got a suggestion he couldn’t refuse. Now how Nate’s spinning it with the best way the contract is structured, possibly there’s something behind the scenes under some layers that we’re not aware about just yet. But there’s no way he’s not making more cash.

“I don’t consider it for a second that he’s not making more cash with this Netflix deal,” he continued. “Nevertheless that plays out, his checking account finally ends up with more cash from this fight than it does within the UFC or he doesn’t take the fight.

“He’s going to select the best bidder. I don’t think that’s unique to (Diaz), but I feel he understands that is prize fighting. He’s fighting for money. He’s going to take the best pay.”

Diaz submitted Tony Ferguson to fight out his UFC contract in 2022. A lot of those predicting a victory for him on May 16 predict Perry to fall to the same fate on the Intuit Dome.
