Michael Bisping and Jake Paul have had their justifiable share of disagreements online, but Bisping has surprisingly backed Paul’s recent idea of entering the Olympics in 2028 to try and produce home gold for the USA in boxing.

Jake Paul has historically targeted former UFC middleweight champion turned UFC commentator, Michael Bisping, as a possible opponent, which has never sat well with the Brit.

With ‘The Problem Child’ continuing his rise within the boxing world by fighting either retired MMA fighters or MMA fighters seemingly long within the tooth, Bisping has heavily criticized the 27-year-old’s strategy.

Jake Paul plans to enter the 2028 Olympics for boxing

Paul’s recent endeavor within the boxing ring got here against current BKFC fighter, Mike Perry, during which he knocked him out within the sixth round. Again, Bisping wasn’t entirely impressed with that outing considering the dimensions difference between the 2.

Following his win over ‘Platinum’ Perry, the web sensation turned boxer has revealed that he plans on entering the Olympics in 2028 when it arrives in LA.

“I’m going to enter the 2028 Olympics for boxing in Los Angeles. I’m sick and bored with waiting for an additional gold (medal) for Team USA… I’m going to do it, why not? 2028 Olympics, you heard it here first, Gold medal, you’re mine brother,” Paul revealed in a video on his YouTube channel.

Team USA won a Bronze medal on the Paris Olympics, with Omari Jones being the one to win it. The last time the USA won gold in boxing was in 2004 when Andre Ward topped the sunshine heavyweight weight category.

Michael Bisping surprisingly backs Jake Paul’s Olympic plan

Although Paul’s idea is probably not agreed by many, Bisping has surprisingly backed the 27-year-old, stating that it could be a likelihood for him to showcase his skills against actual skilled boxers.

“ what, I’ve actually got a number of respect for (that concept). If he did go and fight within the Olympics, well to begin with it wouldn’t be his promotion so he wouldn’t have the option to cherry-pick opponents, he wouldn’t have the option to take people who are well beyond their sell-by date like Mike Tyson, who’s 58 years old,” Bisping said on his YouTube channel.

“The last time Jake Paul fought someone his own size and weight, we all know that he lost. I’m not here to s*** on Jake Paul, fair play to him, I hope he does go to the Olympics, that’s what I wanna see and I’d really respect him taking up real opposition and real challenges,” he added.

In fact, if Paul does determine to try to go ahead together with his plan, he would likely compete at 92kg which might make him smaller than the final pool of opponents.

Paul has 4 years to make the choice, and before that, he’ll undoubtedly proceed to separate the opinion of the boxing world as he continues to compete on the professional scene.

His next fight continues to be scheduled to return against Mike Tyson in November, despite the criticism from the masses.
