MANILA, Philippines—Donovan Smith hasn’t played within the PBA for a couple of yr. Yet, in his return within the Commissioner’s Cup—with a brand new team—it gave the look of he didn’t miss a single beat.
Smith led Converge to a 130-103 rout of his former team, Phoenix on Sunday at Araneta Coliseum.
His performance didn’t surprise FiberXers coach Delta Pineda.

“He already has his experience with our league so it wasn’t an issue for him to play with us here in Converge,” Pineda said.
Smith replaced Kylor Kelley as Converge’s import. The move was made official just a couple of days before their game against the Fuel Masters.
In his return, Smith gave his former team all varieties of trouble with a double-double of 32 points and 12 rebounds.

Despite his numbers, though, Smith said he has more work to be done as a way to help the FiberXers reach the Playoffs.
“It’s just my first game with these guys but we’ll do some more work together and get more Ws,” he said.
Smith goals to indicate more of what he’s able to when Converge takes on second seed NLEX on Saturday at Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
