While Zack Ryder didn’t return to WWE, Matt Cardona did. This move was praised, but he hasn’t done much since then. Now, in a recent interview with Metro, he claimed that he’d wish to kill off the Ryder character. He said,
“We are able to finally do some Matt versus Zack, some dream matches. And we are able to finally kill off Zack Ryder once and for all. Zack Ryder, that’s the rationale I used to be capable of be Matt Cardona on the independents and thrive. Zack Ryder needed to die for Matt Cardona to live.”
“And I’m back now, right? I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for every thing I did as Zack Ryder, then every thing I did on the independents as Matt Cardona. It’s all me at the top. The Kane wheelchair era was not the very best for me. But I bounced back. I didn’t quit. There have been times in my profession where I used to be down, and that was actually one in every of the times.”
“I didn’t come back to WWE to only be a man in WWE. Been there, done that. Possibly after WrestleMania, I gotta be slightly more, I don’t wish to use the word selfish, but possibly the Matt Cardona from the indies, that aggression possibly, needs to return out a bit more.”
Cardona also recalled getting called as much as the essential roster. He said,
“Once I first got called as much as the essential roster, I used to be so young. ‘I used to be so afraid, where I didn’t wish to – it was a distinct era back then. You almost pretended you weren’t a fan. I’m wrestling guys like Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair and Undertaker, and also you’re pretending you’re not a fan. It’s just strictly business. There’s no way I could have walked to the locker room in 2008 with a Shawn Michaels figure and had him sign it.”
