Darnell Nurse is sticking to his three-team list to this point? Can the Edmonton Oilers get him to expand his list?
Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer: Brian Lawton when asked concerning the Edmonton Oilers attempting to get Darnell Nurse to expand his list for teams he’s willing to get traded to. What happens if things drag on?

Bob Stauffer: “Cause you’ve been in each chairs as a GM. Is there a way you’ll be able to facilitate him to maneuver and expand that list? And conversely, is there a way the agency, Paul Capizzano from Cortex, is there a way the agency can perhaps, you recognize, are they in a job of protecting that for just the three teams, or do they need to have a look at expanding the list. You recognize, because a 12 months from now that list is 10 teams.

Lawton: “That’s right, and that’s, that’s the one key point that makes it possible. I even have not spoken to Darnell Nurse. I don’t know if he would consider that or not.
But you recognize when a player gets into this position where they begin to examine themselves some place else, it’s not difficult since the players wouldn’t accept him. The players, the players understand it’s a business greater than ever. I can’t inform you how again and again I’ve seen something and folks say, “Oh, I wouldn’t wish to return in that room now.”
Even for Dylan Larkin, someone brought it up, since it’s out of his control with Steve Yzerman. And Steve Yzerman has made it blatantly clear, “I’ll do what I can do, but I make no guarantees.” There’s one other level after that. I hope that doesn’t come to fruition for anybody, because it may well get ugly. And getting ugly would appear like a player like Dylan Larkin, and I’m not saying Dylan would ever do that, but you recognize, he has some remedies too. They’re not great, though. They simply need to do with not playing. ‘I’ll wait it out. I actually need to be traded.’
I’ve been down that route before. You higher have quite a lot of confidence in your clients should you’re going to go down that route, because it may well get ugly and go sideways really fast.

In Darnell’s case, I don’t see that taking place. I might see management going back and having open discussions with him. That is something that appears to be mutual at this stage. Meaning it’s in the most effective interest for everybody that eventually a transaction does occur. And since of that reason,
I do know that I will surely not hesitate to have conversations with the player about that.”
