Conor McGregor has hinted at his key ambition within the UFC throughout the preparation for his UFC 329 showdown with Max Holloway on the T-Mobile Arena.

The 37-year-old Irish superstar is on the hunt to choose up his first win within the MMA octagon since his sensational victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in 2020.

Conor McGregor suffered a leg break on his last outing on the earth of combat sports, which ultimately led to a first-round defeat to Dustin Poirier in 2021.

The ‘Notorious’ concluded his trilogy of fights with Dustin Poirier after he suffered back-to-back losses at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi and UFC 264 in Las Vegas.

Conor McGregor has the need to turn into a UFC champion if he overcomes Max Holloway at UFC 329

Conor McGregor has not held a UFC title since his stunning second-round win over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, which saw him capture the UFC lightweight championship.

The longer term UFC Hall of Famer last competed for the lightweight championship against Khabib Nurmagomedov and McGregor fell short at UFC 229 in 2018.

McGregor is one in all UFC’s rare dual champions after the MMA legend held each the lightweight and featherweight titles during his time in Dana White’s promotion.

Speaking ahead of UFC 329 on eleventh July, McGregor admitted that he would like to challenge for a UFC title again if he can finally put his MMA profession back on target.

“Of course [I can run for a UFC title],” he told UFC on Paramount+.

“I’m a 170-pound fighter now. I’ve already held the 155-pound unified UFC world title. I’m open for business. I wish for activity. I’ve got an incredible fight in front of me.”

McGregor didn’t pass up the chance to fireplace some shots at UFC star Justin Gaethje after mocking the lightweight champion for losing to Holloway previously.

“Max has flatlined Justin,” he said.

“He knocked him out face down, out cold. Justin’s OK. When he’s on, Justin’s OK. When he’s bad, he’s atrocious. He’s woeful.

“He slaps his punches lots. But he’s very, very durable, and he’s unorthodox in his style.”

Justin Gaethje became the UFC lightweight champion last month after his sensational fourth-round TKO win over Ilia Topuria at UFC Freedom 250.
