ENG vs IND 2026: “Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s runs have not crossed his age up to now” – Former India player after India’s defeat within the 4th T20I

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

After India’s defeat within the fourth T20I against England, former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has commented on India’s
shortcomings against the short ball. He added that Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been dismissed cheaply in all three of his innings and has fallen prey to the short ball twice as well. Suryavanshi scored 15 runs off 10 balls as India set England a 159-run goal in Bristol on Thursday, July 9 as well.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “Let me start with the short ball. It’s one thing the Indian team has repeatedly been seen surrendering to. The England bowlers did lots of short bowling. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, it’s been three knocks where he has hit shots each time, and it gave the impression of he would rating more runs, but he hasn’t crossed 15 even once. His runs haven’t crossed his age up to now.”

“He (Suryavanshi) hit one or two excellent shots, but he got caught against the short ball once more. Ishan Kishan also got caught against the short ball. He got caught within the previous match and this match as well. He has had lots of problems against the short ball. Abhishek Sharma’s batting was going like a run-a-ball, after which he eventually got dismissed to a delivery that wasn’t wicket-taking. We’re being seen collapsing against the short ball. Our batting strategy against the short ball will not be on top of things. It is popping out to be a little bit of an issue, which is being exposed,” Chopra again stated.

“The Indian batting looked barely timid” – Aakash Chopra

Nonetheless, Aakash Chopra slammed Team India for his or her poor batting approach, stating that Vaibhav Suryavanshi was added to the team to bat much more aggressively than earlier.

“The Indian batting looked barely timid. We were going at almost a run-a-ball. We scored only 71 runs in 10 overs. It’s not like we had lost lots of wickets this time. We were saying our playing style is carefree and fearless, and that’s why we have now made Vaibhav Suryavanshi a component of this team because we will run faster than this,” he said.

“Nonetheless, a really timid batting approach. It looks like they’re petrified of getting out. A champion side’s playing style doesn’t change that radically. If we start oscillating like a automotive wiper, it means there may be an issue. This innings was a real example of a hangover from what happened within the previous match,” he concluded.
