PBKS Pacer Earns Maiden India Cap Ahead of 2nd T20I vs Zimbabwe

Punjab Kings (PBKS) fast bowler Yash Thakur made his international debut within the second T20I between India and Zimbabwe at Harare on Saturday, July 25. Ahead of the match, the pacer received his maiden India cap from former spinner Murali Kartik throughout the team huddle. Wearing the training kit, Yash proudly posed along with his cap before wearing it for the special day.

India won the toss and elected to bat first, meaning Yash Thakur will take the sphere later within the match. The visitors made one change to their playing XI, with the debutant replacing Ashok Sharma, who had made his international debut within the series opener.

How Has Yash Thakur Performed in T20 Cricket?

Yash Thakur made his T20 debut for Vidarbha against Himachal Pradesh in 2019 and has since built a powerful record within the format. In 74 matches, he has claimed 110 wickets at a mean of 18.75 and an economy rate of 8.17, with career-best figures of 5/16.

The appropriate-arm pacer has also featured in 22 IPL matches across 4 seasons for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS). He made his IPL debut with LSG in 2023 before joining PBKS ahead of the 2025 season. For the reason that move, he has played three matches for the Punjab-based franchise.

Overall, Yash has taken 27 IPL wickets at a mean of 30.55 and an economy rate of 10.59, with best figures of 5/30. In List A cricket, he has represented Vidarbha in 57 games, picking up 90 wickets at a mean of 27.01 and an economy rate of 5.40.

The 26-year-old was also a part of the India A squad for the recent tri-series in Sri Lanka, where he picked up five wickets in three matches. He’ll now look to make a powerful impression on his international debut.
