Zayn Malik is hitting pause on his comeback plans after a concerning health scare. The singer was forced to cancel a scheduled appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” where he was set to advertise his latest album “Konnakol,” following a recent hospitalization.

Malik broke the news himself, posting a photograph from a hospital bed and updating fans on his condition. He said he was “unexpectedly recovering” after a “long week,” though he didn’t disclose the reason behind his hospitalization.
“Heartbroken that I can’t see you all this week, I wouldn’t be within the place I’m today without you guys and am so thankful to your understanding,” he wrote, also thanking the “incredible” hospital staff caring for him.
A source recently spoke to PEOPLE, telling the outlet, “He’s still working through his health issues. He was presupposed to appear on Fallon but isn’t capable of as a consequence of [the] doctor’s recommendations.”

In line with TMZ, Malik is stepping back from multiple commitments while specializing in his health. Along with canceling his late-night appearance, he’s also pulled out of fan meet-and-greets tied to the album rollout. Sources say the choice was made following medical advice, as he continues searching for treatment, reportedly with a number one cardiologist.
The setback comes at a critical moment for Malik, who recently released “Konnakol” and was gearing up for a significant promotional push ahead of his first solo headline arena tour, set to kick off in North America this June.
“I even have all the time drawn on my heritage for inspiration since I first began making my very own music, this album is a development of that understanding, knowing more now than ever, who I’m, where I come from and where I intend to go,” he previously said of his latest work.

Zayn Malik has also spoken out in regards to the devastating lack of his former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne. Payne died at age 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 16, in accordance with authorities.

Malik also reflected on Payne’s personality, adding, “Regardless that you were younger than me you were all the time more sensible than me, you were headstrong, opinionated, and gave no f—s about telling people once they were improper. Regardless that we butted heads for this reason a number of times, I all the time secretly respected you for it.”
